Hmmm, hadn't thought about that but now that you mention it MacOS X 
doesn't support AppleTalk does it?  However System 7.5.3 doesn't support 
sharing via TCP/IP without special software either does it?

So, I'm not sure how MacOS X sees this.  It certainly doesn't show up on 
the Server list but if I put in the name of my NetBSD system the 
fileshares show up and I can connect to them.  I'm pretty sure I'm just 
running AppleTalk sharing though since System 7.5.3 sees things.  The one 
I'm using is the ASUN package for Sparc.
