Hi there,
What I ended up doing was installing the tarballs from 1.4.3...then 
from within NetBSD, I unpacked the 1.5 binary sets & it seems to be 
working fine (I also redid ./MAKEDEV all). Perhapse there's just 
something different that the installer gets choked on.

I'll be trying -current snapshot when I get home today.
