I don't know why is IDE drive more slow than SCSI, but I think
hardware read/write cache don't work in M/I wdc/wd driver in IDE.
When I executed "atactl /dev/rwd0c identify" in LC630 , write cache is
not enabled. But in PowerBook 2400, write cache is enabled.
In recent M/I wdc/wd driver, which read/write cache is enabled or not,
decided by hardware.
I think benchmark result is nonsence, because sequential read/write
access is not main operating in usual, randam access is main.
If it is, there is almost no defference both IDE performance and SCSI one.
