Ok... I got Xwindows running.  I Think.

I log in, ad type "X".

After a minute or two the screen goes into a bitmapped mode, with a 
mouse pointer shaped like an "X".

and that is it...

Do I need to install GNOME or KDE on top of this ?

did I do something wrong perhps ?


I am in monocrome mode.
