  Good, that means the philosophical foundation for my upcoming question
is sound.  :-)

  I have a Mac IIc<something>. (Two actually. ci?)  The monitor that came
with it was one of those b/w sheet-of-paper-format Portrait Displays.  It
all works, and I managed to install 1.6 on the thing a while back.  The
monitor is really nice, I think, but the Mac honestly doesn't contribute
much to my home network.  Still, the setup is great for displaying
manpages and such while you're trying to get things to work on your main
system.

  Because I can only get *black* and *white* (as in 1-bit) out of it,
though, it got used less and less and is now that unused piece in the
closet.  Now, is there any chance at all I will ever get even 16 grays out
of my setup?  It might be just the thing for reading PDFs (Except for the
low resolution maybe. And the speed.) and I really want to put it to use.
I'm guessing there aren't that many people actively developing for mac68k
anymore, except for the porting bit.  Is there anyone listening in?

  I might even take a look at it myself.  Is there documentation for what
needs to be done?  (And what is it that needs to be done anyway?) :-)

  Pretty much all monitors work the same way.  If you can program a
graphics card to output pixels at the right rate, you should be able to
hook things up.  Theoretically.  In practice it will always be more
trouble, of course.

  Do you know what horizontal/vertical frequency it is supposed to be used
at?  (I suspect it might be lower than for new hardware.)
