(note, I don't really know what I'm talking about here)

Hi,

These are the make options for the kernel, right?  Is it possible that
the kenel should not be doing floating point?  This saves the "save
the floating point registers" on system call step.

I'm only guessing from the fact that the PPC kernel builds also have
-msoft-float.
