The 68k Mac port has problems with the portion of the disk above 1GB.
That's not to say that you can't use a disk greater than 1GB, you'll just
have to do things manually.

If you're not wanting to use the whole disk for NetBSD, you can put your BSD
partitions in the first gigabyte and put your Mac partition on the rest of
the disk.   Alternatively, you could put your Mac partition at the end of
your disk, your swap and root partitions in  the first gigabyte, install the
operating system, and then format the free space as a usr partition, etc.,
afterward.

Anyway, to answer your question, you can use drives greater than one
gigabyte, but if you want to use more than 1GB for NetBSD, you'll have some
extra work to do.
