It fails on seemingly any random edits: could be a paste from
another window (which hangs the serial connection) or interactive
editing.

Hmm, it would be useful perhaps if the sysinst versions for
snapshots could have the right path for those with less than
reliable editing capability.

yup, I see that now: I kinda miss X, so I'll see how this goes.
Perhaps I'll get brave and try RC2 again in a day or two.

Oh, I agree: this is an old box, Apple first's stab at OF, so I
expect there are some gotchas.

Seems to have. Related question: can I write to the floppy device,
in the event I want to boot from a different boot.fs and want to
save the steps of walking from machine to machine?
