Hi,
Sometime between NetBSD 1.6.1 and 1.6.2, booting Starmax machines was
broken. I've tried everything I can think of - used installboot to install
a bootxx from -current, tried the older and newer bootxx with 1.6.1,
1.6.2, and -current ofwboot.xcf copied to /boot, and so on. Needless to
say, I can't boot a 1.6.2 kernel. The second stage bootloader can't load
the kernel.
I don't know if I have any time to try to diagnose this any further right
now, but I'm interested in knowing if anyone has had any success in
finding workarounds for this. This system is running as a router / mail
server for a decent sized building, and it's wonderfully stable.
On a related note, I haven't tried an all -current system yet. Is it to a
state where it's usable yet without random crashes?
Thanks,
John Klos
