I've asked about this before but didn't get an answer - enabling 
synchronous transfers for mesh is TROUBLE.

the mesh line in your kernel config contains a flags field that's 
nowhere documented ( at least I couldn't find it ) - but other SCSI 
drivers use this to enable / disable sync and something else for each 
target - default is 0xffff which disables everything and works fine for 
me - although not as fast as it could of course.
