Is /dev/wd1a still mounted somewhere? ( I remember doing that on a  
mounted filesystem but I'm not 100% sure it was on macppc )

Otherwise, Izumi Tsutsui posted a patch for installboot yesterday,  
could you give it a shot and see if it helps?
