In that case the normal sysinst installation procedure won't work correctly; the NetBSD partitions should be created manually with the pdisk(8) utility and the "update existing installation/copy additional sets" option of sysinst should be used to do the installation.
Or, since David apparently wants to keep MacOS X around it's better to create the NetBSD partition(s) using Disk Utility and keep APPLE_UFS support in the kernel. All this requires some hacking - you need to hardcode the root partition into the kernel, ofwboot.xcf needs to be installed manually and so on. I've always done this by hand though.
