Hello everybody, being new on this list -but not being new to NetBSD- I dare asking a question.
I'm running a semi-private multi-purpose-server for years on different hardware. Current machine is an Ultra 10 running 2.1.0_STABLE, which i'd like to replace, because it's old and slow and pthreads don't work. ;-)
Chosen one is a Dual-G4 PowerMac (I think it's called 'Digital Audio'). I tried booting from the official NetBSD-4-CD, booting from HD, tried all kernels (GENERIC, INSTALL etc.), removed as much hardware as possible (RAM, all cards but video), installed os9 and did a firmware-update, but always got to the same result: it doesn't boot. I felt like a complete idiot. :-(
Here's the output:

And that's it.Today I grabbed the old 3.0.2 image and tried that. To my surprise it runs like hell. 15 minutes later I found myself setting the root- password for the box (after two weeks of fiddling around).
What's wrong with version 4? In the archives I found a similar problem with an Xserve-G4, but didn't get the solution since I'm not a kernel-hacker.
Any ideas? Did I miss something? Clueless Boris Kimmina
