Dual G5 2.3 (Early 2005, PowerMac7,3), again
Hi!
Apologies since this has been discussed on the list in the past but I
did not find any solid conclusion in the archives.
So I picked up one of these machines sold as defective and got it running.
NetBSD does not like it. OpenBSD 5.6 does boot on it with UP kernel.
ofwboot.xcf crashes when it tries to load the kernel text to 0x100000.
I don't have any experience with this platform, but as a quick test
I tried to make a hacked ofwboot binary with the bss segment at
0x100000 and a bss size of 6 MB to coax the OF to set up some mappings
there. The bootloader now gets further but it still doesn't work.
There are references in the list archives to patches that supposedly
make it work. Any clues? I think this would be a nice machine to run
NetBSD on.
Kind regards,
-Tobias
