Hmm, this is odd. The iso should use the same ofwboot.xcf that ends up on the harddisk.
Either way, there were some changes to ofwboot.xcf between 5 and -current, namely 601 support and a bunch of bug fixes. Any chance you could try a -current ofwboot.xcf?
