Aha! A fix to this problem was found!

'options FIRMWORKSBUGS' was what got my iBook booting.

The radeon driver was glitchy and currently I'm just using the
OFW console, but it's only been 20 minutes since I got things
working, and this not an urgent issue for an SSH-ed system.
