Is that a Quicksilver?
IIRC, he is using dual core Power Mac G4 (right? > martin).
Similar boot failure occurs for me on my Mac mini G4.
If so, does a smaller kernel image work?
Yes, both for martin, cf.,
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-macppc/2020/10/16/msg002780.html
and for me. Strangely enough, GENERIC+DIAGNOSTIC kernel is still
smaller than ``hard limit'' due to address of bootloder:
https://gnats.netbsd.org/54916
Is there some ``soft limit''? What do you think it comes from?
I've had problems like that with mine, we should probably move a couple
filesystems and such into modules, now that they work.
There are problems on kernel modules for powerpc. nfs module
at least results in kernel panic:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-powerpc/2020/07/07/msg003590.html
I still haven't figured out why...
Thanks,
