Re: standard runtime for (possible/hopeful) 64bit kernels

DEC picked MIPS Co Ucode complier "binaries" and translated
them into another form which could run on newly fabricated
Alpha processor. I need to dig out Digital Technical Journal to
endorse my gray matters ...

Found them.

DTJ Vol.4, No. 4, Special Issue 1992

- "Binary Translation"
- "The GEM Optimizing Compiler System"

The followings would be equally good reading;

DTJ Vol.9, No.1 1997

- "Digital FX!32: Combining Emulation and Binary Translation"

And another set of papers look also interesting;

DTJ Vol.8, No.2 1996

- "Extending OpenVMS for 64-bit Addressable Virtual Memory"
- "The OpenVMS Mixed Pointer Size Environment"
- "Adding 64-bit Pointer Support to 32-bit Run-time Library"

Any accademically correct research institutes should have copy of
DTJ; go to the library and fetch them all. PDF versions are
considered still available somethere in Internet.
