8.1 boot failure on Challenge S

Hi,

I've dusted-off some of my SGI hardware to give NetBSD 8.1 a try. All
the machines were running earlier versions of NetBSD a few years ago.

Network installations on my two Indys (R4600/133 and R5000/180)
completed without any problems but the install kernel crashed with a
TLB miss error on my R4400/200 Challenge S. See below for the full
console output.

Since the failure occurred after finding hpc1, which isn't present on
an Indy, I built a custom kernel with hpc1 disabled. That booted and
ran normally on the Challenge S so it looks like the problem is related
to the second hpc. What can I do to narrow it down further?

Compiling the kernel threw a very large number of warnings at link
stage but the resulting kernel works. I'll put the details in a
separate thread.
