Hi there, i=B4m back. Sorry for be so silent for a long time, but i had s=
ome =
troubles (exams, personal etc).
Today i mananged to install NetBSD on my MVME 167-34A board, with some =
troubles:
I got two "panic: mmu fault" while installing almost at the same place - =
while =
extracting misc.tgz. So i just installed minimum set and got this machine=
=
running. [Sorry, but i cannot provide an dump - only have a vt100 termina=
l, =
someone =B4borrowed=B4 my serial cable set :(]
Nice work, Steve ;)
Now I=B4ve a strange problem : When doing Datatransfers (like ftp) i get
"ie0: no carrier" messages, repeating speed seems to be controlled by tra=
nsfer =
speed.
I checked (replaced) the 10Base2 Transceiver, the cable (about 5 meters) =
looks =
ok (not selfmade), termination is ok, too. This segment just has 2 comput=
ers, =
the MVME on the one end, an FreeBSD Box acting as router using a WD NE 2k=
=
clone. So whats wrong? Bad cable from CPU Board to Transistion board?
Don=B4t know if that message slows down the transfer, but at least it is =
annoying.
Regards,
Andre
PS: if my time allows i=B4ll play a bit with the vme-bus-stuff, we=B4ve m=
uch A/D =
and D/A Cards in our institute.
