actually, as i explained to Matthias in e-mail earlier this evening,
this was not the reason.  I had asked him, way back when, to send me a
test case that demonstrated that curses didn't work properly.

He did, and I then tried the test case, on all of the terminals i had
available to me, and i could not get it to show me the bug.
