I'd guess the hardest part is to get the strange connector at the PS2 side,
and you could buy some cheap audio-out cable and reuse it's connector.

It looks like eg. play-asia.com sells 3rd party ones now, I'm not sure how much they differ from the one with the Linux kit. One of the limitations of the Linux kit VGA cable is that it does not work for playing games. I'm not sure if this limitation is artificial or not.
