Hi,

I recently obtained a Decstation 5000.  It is in a 19" rack enclosure
(along with a SCSI mass-storage drawer containing 6 RZ58 drives).
Unfortunately, there are no nameplates anywhere on it that indicate
which model it is (120, 200, 240, etc).  Upon power-up it indicates
"KN03-AA DEC V5.1b TCF0" on the console.

Upon looking at the pages on www.netbsd.org about the pmax port, I see
that there are only a couple models of 5000/2xx that are supported.  I
would like to determine if my system is capable of running the
NetBSD/pmax.

I've examined the CPU board for an indication of which processor it
is, but the CPU chip has a large round heatsink that obscures the
numbers (if there are any).  There is a 20 Mhz crystal next to the
CPU.  (20 Mhz R3000?)

There are also three expansion slots, with two PMAZ-AA SCSI boards and
a TCE option module which connects into the upper part of the chassis
to two more PMAZ boards.

It's my assumption that this is either a 5000/120 or a 5000/240, but
I'd like the help of the pros here on the list to identify it exactly.
>From what I see on the www.netbsd.org web page, either is capable of
supporting the pmax port, so I'm hoping that the unit I have is one of
the two.

Also: if this box _is_ one of the NetBSD/pmax supported architectures,
can I use my NetBSD/386 box to make one of the RZ58 drives bootable
for the the 5000?  (I've already successfully formatted and used one
under NetBSD/386).

Any help you might be able to provide would be very much appreciated!
