There were a few glitches in building the pre-Alpha snapshot.
* The /usr/bin/lint binary was broken (linked against deprecated libc.so.13)
* The xbase.tar.gz set did not include the X11 shared libraries (ouch!)
* The comp.tar.gz set did not include the /usr/lib/lib*_pic.a libraries
So I've rebuilt the tarballs and updated all the *.tar.gz. sets in the
snapshot directory on ftp.netbsd.org. It will take a day or so for
mirrors to catch up. Anyone who's really keen to install this and
check it out should get the tarballs directly or check that your
mirror matches the following:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jonathan netbsd 11685376 Oct 27 00:32 base.tar.gz
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jonathan netbsd 11347856 Oct 27 01:13 comp.tar.gz

-rw-rw-r-- 1 jonathan netbsd 2201884 Oct 27 17:39 xcomp.tar.gz

PLEASE NOTE: there are some known glitches in this snapshot. The
/usr/bin/ld is the one used to rebuild the snapshot. I have *not*
rebuilt it, and it dies on some files (e.g., linking
games/backgammon.) For now, I don't plan to upgrade ld until after
the 1.3_ALPHA snapshot is out; rebuilding the toolchain with the
new ld and then rebuilding the entire tree (including X11) would
take too long. I'll do that immediately after kicking out a 1.3-ALPHA
snapshot.
So I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who rebuilds binutils-2.8.1,
installs it, and rebuilds a sup tree from Tuesday Oct 28 or later.
I haven't updated the diskimage.gz or diskimage.tar.gz; they should
still be okay as-is.
