As a first shot, I'd recommend to check the libraries on which gv
depends. Here:

         -lX11.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
         -lICE.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6
         -lSM.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6
         -lXt.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6
         -lXext.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6
         -lXmu.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6
         -lXaw3d.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXaw3d.so.6
         -lgnumalloc.0 => /usr/lib/libgnumalloc.so.0

The important thing is Xaw3d which might be missing on your
machine. The package system should have taken care of this, though.

IMHO the server is rock solid, I haven't found any flaws so far...

Nope, works like it is supposed to. Maybe a reinstall of gv and Xaw3d
will do the trick? It's kind of Windoze-wimp style but you never
know... ;)
