I don't know what 4MAX+ means, but I succeeded by connecting
a 25-pin serial console in:

  1.3.2(GENERIC): fully-installed
  1.4.2: entered `sysinst' but failed to recognize the real size of the hard disk.

For 1.5_ALPHA2, it stopped before booting the kernel.

I have no such a console.
