Odd..  try tcpdumping the network traffic with a verbose option, to see if you
can tell why it's unable to locate init.

One other thought I had, was that likely nobody has touched the KERNEL_SR and
USER_SR in years on bebox.  When I fixed prep up, I had to move those around
into unused slots.  Perhaps see if thats your problem?
