IIRC the ibmnws has some S3 chip on the mainboard.
I dunno what it has. The code only mentions a pnozz. Probably
because it was
copied from prep. Perhaps it needs to be modified to skip whatever
actually
ships in an ibmnws.
Eh, a few mails back:
genfb0 at pci0 dev 4 function 0: S3 Trio64V2/DX
Didn't some IBM prep or chrp boxes ship with P9100 cards?
Yeah. I think either the 7020 or the goofy laptop did.
Hmm, it would make sense if they used a P9100 in the prep laptop -
the other choice would be a CT65550 which is slower and lacks line
drawing support.
We really need matroxfb and s3virgefb. Especially if ibmnws has a
virge too.
This is doubly true for X, since every X version for years has had
a horribly
broken s3 driver.
No idea how different the Trio is from Virge and so on.
Last time I used X with an S3 chip was ages ago with a VLB S3 805 in
some 486 PC.
Anyway, ENOHARDWARE and I still need to write raptorfb for sparc64,
now that I have the right docs from 3Dlabs ;)
So, if somehow a small prep, ofppc or whatever box with a matrox or
virge board materializes on my doorstep I'll certainly feel compelled
to write drivers.
have fun
Michael
