All, et al, and then some,
Quite a number of people have requested diffs of my source tree
against the cvs repository. I've put them up at the following
location on ftp.mrynet.com:
/pub/NetBSD/arch/sgimips/mrynet/
The files to look for are:
ttypi:--ROOT--@smedley (8411): /bin/ls -l cvs*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 605 May 3 11:26 cvs-20020503.README
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 7549 May 3 11:01 cvs-20020503.diffs.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 4411 May 3 11:27 cvs-20020503.diffs.txt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 18267 May 3 11:03 cvs-20020503.newfiles.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2429 May 3 11:14 cvs-20020503.newfiles.txt
The README file reads:
A number of folks have requested a copy of the modifications I run
locally to generate binary snapshots and bootable CDs for the
NetBSD/sgimips platform.
The mods are provided in the following files:
cvs-20020503.diffs.txt
This file describes the changes made in cvs-20020503.diffs.
cvs-20020503.diffs.gz
This is the output from a "cvs diff" against my source tree
as of May 3, 2002.
cvs-20020503.newfiles.txt
This file describes new files I have added to my source tree.
The new files are in cvs-20020503.newfiles.tar.gz
cvs-20020503.newfiles.tar.gz
This is a gzipped tarball of the new files.
My source tree has proven to me to generate, in my opinion, "release quality"
packages and installation. The NetBSD/sgimips bug list is almost down to
zero, with basically only L2 cache and O2 support to be pursued.
I'm currently performing one last snapshot build on my sources. This snapshot
will be as of May 3, 2002 and will include the mods checked in by Rafal
yesterday for automatic L2 cache disabling (no more GENERIC-L2 necessary--
all-in-one GENERIC kernel now built) as well as other changes for clocks
and stuff.
This new snapshot should be completed sometime this weekend as snapshot-20020503.
Additionally, the package builds for sgimips are progressing. In
/pub/NetBSD/arch/sgimips/packages
are the first-run packages. These were all built manually, and any packages
that were built for X were linked against XFree86 4.2.0 binaries. The X11
dependant packages aren't all built there. I decided to rebuild packages
against the CVS xsrc tree (XFree86 3.3.6) as a reference. These build are
now in progress, and are being stored in
/pub/NetBSD/arch/sgimips/packages.new
These packages are being built using the "bulk" mechanism of packages and will
provide a reference for when I go back to the XFree86 4.2.0 source to clean
it up a bit for the NetBSD/sgimips port. I will possibly look into getting a
(albeit not very useful) X server built.
Nonetheless, the 20020503 snapshot will have the X11 binaries included for
installation.
Share and enjoy,
