Okay, then it doesn't stick in mec(4) driver but
in some other interrupt handler.
(a possible one is macepci_intr()?)

Is your /tmp on SCSI disk?
What happens if you try to copy files into
non-disk devices, like mfs or tmpfs?

Anyway, I'll commit the latest mec(4) patch
(without timeout code) shortly.
