Maybe I spoke too soon...

I just got a panic: free: multiple frees. What causes this one?

During the subsequent fsck, I got errors from the esp driver. 
Something about XXXX too many bytes, and a medium error-- this 
is on the Quantum Empire.

Any ideas?
