I think Aaron makes the best point about this. Mr. Miller's comments
struck me a inflammatory. If there is competition between the free OSes,
it should be the friendly variety.

I know people who were active in BSD work during the split from Jolitz and
then the FreeBSD and NetBSD split and, from my point of view, it strikes
me as a waste of energy that would be better directed on working on code.

As the "user who had a problem", I though Mr. Miller was bashing Aaron, which
seems very unfair since he has done a lot of work to get the sun4m port
together. Of course, it is not yet complete.

Actually, when I posted, I was looking for suggestions on what might be
wrong with the code so I might go in and patch it until the real fix
came along. That why I like OSes w/source.

My own point of view on this is to take the good stuff from posts like
Mr. Miller's (like the description of the problem with the le driver) and
ignore the rest. Maybe someday he will realize we are all working towards
(roughly) the same goal.

So, maybe we could have some technical discussions here. Does anyone
know which sun4m machines use the macio/slavio chipset and how to detect
it? (Yeah, I know. I work at Sun, so I should be able to find out, but
if I find out from the mailing list, then I will know that I am not giving
out proprietary info.)
