As long as you keep your speed 19200 or below, the SS* serial ports work
fine; otherwise your system will experience a form of reverse dysentery.
[ahem.] They _USED TO WORK GREAT AT 38400 IN 1.2_ but _SOMETHING_ happened
between then and now which causes the kernel not to service the interrupts
as smoothly anymore. I don't know if it's the NFS server stuff which is
demanding more time (even when it's not being accessed) or what, but
I get lossage at 38.4 anymore.
