[now that my i386 com port woes are fixed... ]
Okay, here is all the data that I have. I have tried this with both
HPx3 boxes and both cables that Jan gave me. My conclusion? The boot prom
doesn't know about SCSI1, or the HP's don't like what the boot prom is
doing to probe them.
This explains why when I boot on a sun3, all is well, however it is a
SCSI1 bus... Of course, once the system boots, it is all MI SCSI code
anyway...
The Sparc 2 box hangs with the HP box on. The is unfortunate, since I want
to use the HP box as three root disks, with real work on NFS. Even if I
use the Quantum box as a root, it doesn't always boot...
I have read the Sun hardware FAQ, but I can't find a SCSI term power fuse
on the Sparc 2. Can I turn sync negotiations off completely on the Sparc 2?
Or is there something else I should try?
scenario 1:
Sparc 2 <--> HPx3 <--> Quantum Box <--> terminator
scenario 2: [works fine]
Sun 3 <--> HPx3 <--> Quantum Box <--> terminator
#1a: no power to HP box
