This problems a little weird...
I figured it would be a good idea to have student marks available via the web
so i quickly whipped up some scripts to generate a page giving student number
and a list of grades plus a row of small icons indicating status (green tick,
small yellow smiley etc etc). I ran test data through the scripts , pages
were generated fine (HTML 3.2 compliant). I then put live data through the
scripts, checked the pages in vi and put them on the webserver (theres over a
hundred students listed now).
Heres the problem:
When I access the page using netscape, NetBSD logs me out. It does so
neatly, no core dumps etc etc. I'v had the same problem on other 'busy' pages
(lots of small images) and typically moving the scroll bar at the window border
triggers the problem.
The workstation I use is a sparc 2 (NetBSD 1.3.3) sitting on a 192.168.x.x
network with outside access via nat router. I log into an outside machine
using ssh (1.2.27) and run netscape there, the web server is also outside
(on the same machine). I'm using FreeBSD 2.2.8 on the nat router, FreeBSD
3.2/Apache 1.3.6 on the outside. The same problems crops up when I use a
sparc xterm (it's running NetBSD aswell via a FreeBSD nfs box) so I figure its
not hardware. The annoying part is that a Win98 or FreeBSD based workstation
copes fine.
