That's an easy enough problem to fix. He could install BSD on it and
all his problems would be solved. BTW, you don't want to use linux for
an NIS server *anywhere* if you can help it. YP really sucks under
linux.

Or, as was alluded to earlier in this thread:
# ln -s /etc/passwd /path/to/nfs/root/etc/passwd
# ln -s /etc/master.passwd /path/to/nfs/root/etc/master.passwd
# ln -s /etc/pwd.db /path/to/nfs/root/etc/pwd.db
# ln -s /etc/spwd.db /path/to/nfs/root/spwd.db
# ln -s /etc/group /path/to/nfs/root/group
That should fix the problem up well enough.
