I have scanned the motherboards a few days ago, here's the
interesting part (DBRI and codec):

As you can see, the LX has an CS4215 on board.
(The same chip that is in those external speaker boxes AFAIK.)

No, the Classic has Sun4c type audio (i.e. AMD7930).
(I have not scanned the motherboard yet :-).
The SS5 has an CS4231 and the SS4 with audio option as well.
(Of course I don't have that option for my SS4 }:-{ )
