You guys are confusing me again.
sorry :-)
Can I get on the Ultra 5+'s console monitor with keyboard and install the
system and boot it to a console-only login prompt?
i'm fairly sure this works but i've never done it.
Or do I have to hook up a cable to the serial port and use it via a remote
machine connected to the serial port?
Matt's original comment that it was an Open Firmware driver made me think it
was the former (I don't know what "com driver" means, sorry), but now it's
sounding like that's not possible, unless there's "real kbd/ms drivers"?
OK, the deal is like this:
- in 1.5, there is no support for the hardware, only an OFW console
driver. this means that both headed & serial work (but no X11).
- in -current, there are real drivers for the kbd/ms, but not for the
display. this means that serial still works and i don't know about
headed -- it might work but i've not heard either way.
