Am I delirious, or was the CS4231 on the SS5 supposed to produce "CD
quality stereo sound"?

AFAICT in the cs4231/ad1868 driver, there are no controls for treble/bass?

And still no way to select the port out which sound is played (play.avail_
ports=0x0)?
