Are you sure it did work before ?
As on sparc all the mouses have the same interface is the same, the driver
for the mouse is in the kernel rather than the X server (this allows
compatibility win SunOS/Solaris X server binaries).
Make sure the kernel detects the mouse at boot (e.g. on my SS20:
zs1 at obio0 slot 0 offset 0x0 level 12 softpri 6
kbd0 at zs1 channel 0 (console input)
ms0 at zs1 channel 1
