Ok,
would You please allow me to summarize the present state?
- There are several sources of possible kernel drivers for most of the
24 bit frame buffers, with cg14 as the most prominent exception in
the freeware area.
- the sources are: sparc linux and solaris
- the solaris sources might help to extend the existing free cg14
driver to support 24 bit?
- 24 bit X servers using these kernel drivers do already exist in
linux. What about vanilla X.org code?
in conclusion, all the crucial information and example sources needed
for 24 bit graphics in netbsd is there (except cg14 support :-(( ).
What IMHO has to be organised now is finding competent people willing and
having time to start the actual work.
