Howdy,

I just inherited some new hardware from Fred Cirera, which leads me to a
few questions.  I also realized that I hadn't updated a few things in the
1.6 INSTALL notes, so I'd appreciate if I could get answers to some of
these questions.

Does the bpp interface work?  I don't have a cable to test it out, but it's
been since 1.4 that we've supposedly had bpp available.  There is no
MAKEDEV entry for bpp -- is this to keep non-gurus from wasting time with
it?

I just compiled a 1.6_BETA GENERIC.MP kernel.  It found the second SM71 in
my SS20, but doesn't do anything with it.  top shows only one CPU in use,
processes take the same amount of time, and the CPU gets hot (as if it were
not running nops).  Is this the expected behavior at present?

Are the hme and qfe still considered experimental?  What sort of comment
should I put in about performance (ISTR plenty of people saying they get
only marginally better performance than with le-based ethernet)?
Informally, I got <=3MB/s ftping between a moderately fast PowerMacintosh
and my SS20.

My Voyager recognizes the modem card I put in there, but I can't seem to
talk to it (cd /dev;MAKEDEV ttyC0;cu -l /dev/ttyC0 -s 9600).  Is this
right, or might it be a 16 bit card (and how do I tell)?  Unfortunately,
the Adaptec SCSI card I have doesn't fit into the slot (it looks the same
size as the modem card, but it just doesn't slide all the way in).

The 1.6 GENERIC config file says "# Currently enabling nell* with audioamd*
causes panic at attach".  I thought this was fixed with "options
AUDIO_C_HANDLER".  I can't really test this since my Voyager doesn't have
audioamd.

And a small nit -- poweroff/shutdown -p don't power off the Voyager:
