Ok..home now and i can give some more details..

nfsd for windows is Allegro NFS.
dhcp software is..DHCP turbo by weird solutions who have disappeared from 
the web.

sparc gets bootloader..gets kernel runs it and after DMESG i get this output 
from the sparc:

nfs_boot: timeout...
nfs_boot: timeout...
nfs_boot: trying RARP (and RPC/bootparam)

no file system for le0

As for why I dont get another scsi drive - well of the few ive had here they 
are really really screechy!
