Should that read half duplex? hme interfaces support 100MBit full duplex.
The autoconfiguration doesn't work correctly in NetBSD 1.6.1 - not sure
about current. But if you use "ifconfig" to activate full duplex mode
manually the problem should go away.

Try to use "mt eew 1" before starting the backup.
