I use a SPARCStation LX which is slower and has only 96MB of memory but
looks otherwise like your setup.

KDE on a firewall? You should run as few applications and services on
a firewall as possible.

What features do you expect from a firewall software that NetBSD doesn't
provide out of the box? My SPARCStation LX provides packet filtering,
network address translation and a VPN tunnel for me with plain NetBSD.
