   To clarify again, this is not a _problem_ or _bug_ in 1.6, it's
   just a missing feature. 1.6[.x] does not support SMP in any way or
   on any architecture. That's all there is to it.


false.  1.6 supports some powerpc, vax & alpha SMP.
