Thanks to all who replied; for now, I've ripped out the cable from
le0 and will see what I can accomplish with ipf.

Yeah, I know, what I'm doing probably makes zero sense to a lot of
people, but the consumer-end routers suck, and I can't afford a bigger
one or the power required to run it or another FeCe running *x.
