That's a bug ( well, not really, more a misfeature ) in the display 
driver. It requests the same number of lines/columns the firmware uses, 
no matter which font is loaded. Apparently no one ever used it with a 
different font. The reason to do that is to mimic firmware output as 
close as possible.

The sparc ports still don't use wscons. Switching to wscons is on the 
way but virtual consoles aren't that high on anyones priority list as 
far as I can tell. I think I'll add it to machfb and cgsix in the not 
too far future though.
