FWIW, I just updated my krups to -current yesterday, cross compiling on i386.
I used CFLAGS+= -mv8 -mtune=supersparc in my /etc/mk.conf.

Besides (unrelated) issues with the secondary bootstrap for krups
(bootjs.net), it works just fine.
