This is a problem between the X server and the keyboard interface; the
framebuffer doesn't come into it, so chasing after cg6 issues will be
pointless.

The message is coming from kbdioctl() (sys/dev/sun/kbd.c, search for
ENOTTY).  The real question is, what ioctl is the X server issuing that
is failing?

Perhaps make that printf print out cmd, so you can see what ioctl is
failing.  It won't fix anything but it will at least give you a
direction to investigate further.
